OMG!
Remember, not all plates are guaranteed to increase in value…

So, have we jumped the shark yet?
That Giant Sucking Sound…
Okay, I have been dying for a reason to post this picture, so now I have an excuse. With the current economic hit we’ve taken recently with the bailout fiasco, I have to say I’m glad I’m armed. I’m sure we’re far from a total societal breakdown, but if it ever happens I’m set. I don’t call it being bitter or clinging to my guns, I consider myself pragmatic…
Oh, and you kids over there in Washington D.C….grow up and get back to working for us before our economy tanks anymore than it already has. Idiots!
Utah man harassed by cops for open carrying
It would seem that some cops in Utah aren’t up on the legality of open carry. From the article here:
Deveraux said he was walking around his neighborhood to exercise last December, when he was stopped by a Granite School District officer and “was informed that if I touched my gun, I would be killed.” The officer called the West Valley City Police Department, Deveraux continued, three squad cars arrived, and he was detained and his gun taken from him - then, after a few minutes, he was released.
Those were violations of his federal and state constitutional rights, said the Swede who became an American citizen this January. And they are civil rights abuses that he has only encountered in West Valley City, Deveraux said.
“I don’t blame them for being a little bit extra careful,” he said, noting that the crime rate is high in Utah’s second largest city, “but there’s a line they crossed between being a little bit careful and a little bit too careful.”
More than meets the eye…
Of all the things I thought would endanger air travelers, I have to admit T-shirts never occurred to me. Perhaps the security screener was a Decepticon agent?
From BoingBoing:
This poor guy tried to board a BA flight at Heathrow terminal 5 but was turned back and told to change out of his t-shirt, which featured a Transformer robot carrying a gun — a robot with a gun that apparently posed a threat to flight safety.
Go through security, get pulled to the side. I’m wearing a French Connection Transformers t-shirt. Bloke starts joking with me is that Megatron. Then he explains that since Megatron is holding a gun, I’m not allowed to fly. WTF? It’s a 40 foot tall cartoon robot with a gun as an arm. There is no way this shirt is offensive in any way, and what I’m going to use the shirt to pretend I have a gun?

Coyote Ugly
No, not the movie, but real live Coyotes are threatening local residents and pets, even killing and eating some. Pets, not the residents. Sounds to me like a valid reason to be armed in the park to me.
Coyotes get ugly in Tigard park
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services works to rid Durham Park of problem coyotesBy Darryl Swan
A trio of run-ins between coyotes and residents living near Durham Park has prompted a federal effort to try to catch, and kill, the offending canines.
Three confrontations have triggered the effort, the latest last Thursday when a resident discovered his Dachshund had been snatched from his yard and dragged to the nearby railroad tracks, where it was later found to have been killed.
There have also been showdowns between the coyotes and trail users in the area, said David Williams, the state director for United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services.
One scenario involved a woman who was walking her Irish setter on a leash. A number of coyotes that refused to leave after the woman attempted normal scare-off maneuvers, such as yelling and throwing stones, attacked the dog.
“She came in really shaken up about it,” said Roland Signett, the Durham city administrator.
Signett said there have been numerous reports of missing dogs and cats in the adjacent neighborhood.
“With all of the things that have been building, it was starting to be a concern that not only pets, but humans could be bitten by one of these animals,” Signett continued. “That’s when we took the step to say, ‘OK, we have to do something about this.’”
Some however aren’t happy about the possibility of these wild predators being killed for their and local pets protection. I guess that’s all that can be expected from people who learned everything they know about animals from Walt Disney. The same kind of people are probably the same ones who would see no need to be armed either.
John Klosterman and his girlfriend since 1975, Leslie Fleet, live near Durham Park.
“We’ve never had a problem (with coyotes). We see them all the time. We think it’s a real treat to see them,” he said.
The couple frequently walks their dog, a 70-pound German shepherd mix named “Blaze,” around the Fanno Creek loop in the park. When they heard through the rumor mill that there was an effort to rid the park of a coyote or two, they first were led to believe leg-hold traps would be used.
Later, they found out neck snares would be used instead, not the kind of news that made him flush with comfort.
“There’s a lot of people around here who don’t like that,” he said.
I wonder how long it’ll take for the treat to turn into his pet German Shepherd? I guess it depends on how hungry the Coyotes are. Once all the other neighborhood pets get eaten would be my guess.
Some people.
