Please Help

My friend Jeffersonian is in real need of help right now. He lost his job earlier this year and has managed to survive so far via a combination of selling his possessions  (guns, etc) and donations from his blog readers. Now he has several bills coming due, rent, electricity, and more, and no way to pay for them.

If you could help at all, it would be most appreciated. Folks, he’s a good guy and a gunny, and he needs our help. Please give as much as you can.

His Paypal donation link can be found here and if you prefer Gpal, click here.

Thanks!

Want to “Opt Out” of the Virtual Strip Search machines when flying? Be prepared to be publicly humiliated and for a groping that would embarrass a porn star.

“Opt out! We got an opt out!” one bellowed about me in a tone that people in my desert neighborhood in Tucson usually reserve for declaring, “Rattlesnake!”

Other screeners took up the “Opt out!” shout. I was marched from the metal detector lane to one of those nearby whole-body imagers, ordered to take everything out of my pockets, remove my belt and hold my possessions up high. Then I was required to stand still while I received a rough pat-down by a man whose résumé, I suspected, included experience at a state prison.

“Hold your pants up!” he ordered me.

What did I do to deserve this? Well, as I approached the checkpoints, I had two choices. One was a familiar lane with the metal detector, so I put my bag on that. To my right was a separate lane dominated with what the Transportation Security Administration initially called “whole-body imagers” but has now labeled “advanced imaging technology” units. Critics, of course, call them strip-search machines.

Cop protecting Obama accidentally shoots self

By QMI Agency

An assistant police inspector from Mumbai’s police crime branch, which was ordered to protect US President Barack Obama during his visit to India, accidentally shot himself in the leg near the hotel where the president is staying.

The Hindustan Times reports that Suhas Chaudhary’s .38 was not locked, which led to the accidental firing on Saturday. Police report that Chaudhary had just finished his shift of guarding the Taj Mahal Hotel. When he was getting into his vehicle, he removed his gun and accidentally pulled the trigger.

No one else was reported to be injured and neither President Obama nor Michelle Obama were at the hotel when it happened. The bullet grazed Chaudhary’s leg before hitting the ground. He was taken to hospital.

Mumbai police’s crime branch is part of the outer security ring of the president’s three-day visit to the country, which concludes Monday. Obama’s 10-day trip to Asia will then move on to Jakarta, Seoul and Yokohama before he returns to Washington.
