I thought it’d be interesting to see how the various news outlets are reporting the 9/12 march.
Fox News
“They came. They saw. They protested.
Yet it remains to be seen whether the demonstration in the nation’s capital by tens of thousands of activists Saturday against what they view as out-of-control spending by an expanding federal government will conquer Washington.”
CNN
“Demonstrators gathered on the west side of the Capitol on Saturday and the crowd stretched for blocks.”
MSNBC

ABC News
“Thousands of conservative protesters from across the country converged on the Capitol Saturday morning to demonstrate against President Obama’s proposed health care agenda and voicing opposition to big government, what they say is over-the-top spending.”
CBS News
“Thousands of people marched to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, carrying signs with slogans such as “Obamacare makes me sick” as they protested the president’s health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.”

It seems he’s been imprisoned yet again. Aparently some terrorist types were found to be in possesion of his book…so of course he must have had something to do with it. The UK police should be ashamed of the horrible treatment he has recieved at their hands, and he should be released immediately. Of course, common sense and the UK authorities haven’t seen each other in a very long time.
I had noted, with some concern, that his website had become “forced dormant” in recent months, and today I find that it is because Mr Luty has been jailed once again, for “aiding and abetting” some alleged “terrorists” who were found in possession of his book. The UK gubmint refuses to disclose where he is being held, they barely admit that they do have him in custody, and they further refuse to describe in any detail what the charges are and who the other suspects and the details of their case. In an attempt to win some favor in his case, his family has taken down the body of the website, thus the “you are here” post on it, but without any other explanation.
Go here to read about it.
It’s about time:
The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.
“Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts,” read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.
“Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership,” the letter said.
The news follows the firing Friday of two more ACORN employees after new hidden-camera footage showed workers for the group advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute how to subvert the law.

Tens of thousands of anti-big government activists are expected in Washington on Saturday as part of a “March on Washington” being organized by FreedomWorks, a conservative group headed by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas.
A FreedomWorks staffer told ABC News that the organization’s offices at 601 Pennsylvania Avenue were evacuated on Friday afternoon by DC Metro Police because of a bomb scare.
DC Metro police has confirmed to ABC News’ Jason Ryan that the DC Metro police had, indeed, evacuated the organization’s offices after being told by the organization that it had received a bomb threat.
The threat came when a man called the FreedomWorks main line and told the organization’s female receptionist: “I put a bomb in your building, bitch.”
The FreedomWorks staffer who spoke with ABC News said that the organization has received multiple threats but that for some reason, the DC Metro police thought that this one was credible enough to evacuate the building.
The FreedomWorks staffer did not fear for his safety but worried that it was an effort to disrupt the organization’s ability to round up activists in advance of tomorrow’s “March on Washington” which is expected to bring tens of thousands of activists to the nation’s capital.
The FreedomWorks staffers says that 50 volunteers were forced to leave the office where they were making calls encouraging people to come to tomorrow’s event.
On this day, eight years ago, almost 3,000 people were murdered by Muslim fanatics.
Long time readers will probably know my feelings about Muslim fanatics, so I’ll let it go at this. I hope they burn in hell forever, and their 72 virgins are gonorrhea afflicted, syphilitic whores.
I don’t go looking for these, honest.
This time, no one got shot.
A man described as disabled says constables mistakenly came to his house looking for another man, but they kicked in his door and he almost shot them.
KDKA-TV’s Marty Griffin reports one of the constables faces charges and three others are being investigated.
According to police reports and photos, state constables with a child support warrant kicked in the door to Mark Smith’s home in McKeesport.
The problem was they were at the wrong house.
The police report says the victim was not the person they were looking for.
It also says the constables did not notify McKeesport Police they were serving any warrants in this area.
The mix-up and the panic had Smith ready to shoot what he believed to be intruders in his home.
Griffin: “Why would you shoot someone like that?”
“Because that’s a home invasion – I have a young 16-year-old daughter here – I’m not gonna let anything happen to my baby,” Smith said.
“I’m not fighting anybody, not in my home, I’m protecting my home.
“I’m upstairs in my home. It’s midnight. You’re coming through my door? End of conversation,” he added.

More AstroTurf, this time from the ironically named “Freedom States Alliance” concerning a local gun ban. Not the confusion from some of the commenters, starting with the first one.
The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence (OCAGV) said that the city of Columbus had the vision and foresight to pass an assault weapons ban in 2005 despite intense pressure from the NRA. As a result of the local ordinance the gun lobby sought to punish Columbus by pulling its annual convention thereby denying revenue to the city and state. One year later, the Ohio legislature passed a state preemption law that eliminated most local gun lawspublic safety, and put law enforcement officers and communities at greater risk.
Case in point occurred Monday, where a drunk driver, Jason Farnsworth, 37, evaded police trying to pull him over when he fired on two Columbus police officers. One officer was shot in the face with an AK 47 and the other was hospitalized after being shot in the chest from a 9mm handgun but his bullet proof vest saved the officer’s life. According to media reports Farnsworth then barricaded himself inside a building and a gunfight ensued where as many as 100 police officers responded including a SWAT unit. A police cruiser and neighborhood cars were riddled with bullets as people took cover wherever they could find a safe place. The bullet fired from the AK-47 traveled more than 150 yards (for comparison, a football field is 120 yards) and went through the police cruiser’s window before hitting the officer. The attack ended when Farnsworth took his own life.
“The Columbus city council and Mayor Michael Coleman understood the threat and availability of cop-killing assault weapons and took steps to protect our law enforcement officers and our communities. That’s what true leadership is about: assessing the risks to our public safety and working to enact measures to prevent gun violence,” said Toby Hoover, Executive Director of OCAGV. “We need the same kind of leadership and foresight in all levels of our government, especially in the legislature and governor’s office. The truth is that effective public policy is what ultimately matters.”
Tragically, Ohio law enforcement officers pay the ultimate price because of the unrestricted availability and access to powerful handguns and assault weapons. On July 13, 2008, Ashford Thompson shot a police officer four times in the head after he was pulled over for playing loud music in Cuyahoga County. On April 30, 2008, Derrick Foster was shooting dice inside a house when it was raided for drugs by a police tactical unit. Foster shot through a barricaded door, wounding two police officers as they broke through it.
Military style semi-automatic assault weapons pose a grave risk to law enforcement officers. One in every five law enforcement officers slain in the line of duty between January 1st, 1998, and December 31st, 2001, were killed with assault weapons according to a study Officer Down —Assault Weapons and the War on Law Enforcement also conducted by the Violence Policy Center. Although federal agencies have largely stopped releasing robust crime data and analysis, researchers and advocates point to anecdotal evidence of the threat of assault weapons. Four Oakland police officers were killed on Mar. 21, 2009 during a traffic stop, two of them gunned down by a man using an AK-47 assault rifle. Three Pittsburgh officers who were shot and killed by Richard Poplawski on Apr. 4, while responding to a domestic incident when he opened the opened the door and overpowered the officers in a hail of bullets. such Columbus’s assault weapon ban. The Ohio Coalition says the state legislature’s decision jeopardized

Senate to Vote on Anti-gun Kook for “Regulatory Czar” – Nominee favors bringing an end to hunting
Tuesday, September 8, 2009Just when you thought the news about the Obama administration couldn’t get any worse, gun owners find themselves needing to rally the troops once again.
This time it’s the proposed “Regulatory Czar” who will be coming to a vote this week in the U.S. Senate.
His name is Cass Sunstein, and he holds some of the kookiest views you will ever hear.
For starters, Sunstein believes in regulating hunting out of existence. He told a Harvard audience in 2007 that “we ought to ban hunting.” And in
The Rights of Animals: A Very Short Primer (2002), he said:I think we should go further … the law should impose further regulation on hunting, scientific experiments, entertainment, and (above all) farming to ensure against unnecessary animal suffering. It is easy to imagine a set of initiatives that would do a great deal here, and indeed European nations have moved in just this direction. There are many possibilities.
If that’s all Sunstein believed, he would be dangerous and extreme, but not necessarily kooky. Unfortunately, when you look at WHY he wants to restrict hunting, this is where he goes beyond extreme. In Sunstein’s world, animals should have just as many rights as people … and they should be able to sue humans in court!
“We could even grant animals a right to bring suit without insisting that animals are persons, or that they are not property,” Sunstein said on page 11 of Animal Rights: Current Debates and New Directions (2004).
Well, that’s a relief … he is at least willing to concede that animals are not persons! But he would still have animals suing humans, apparently, with more enlightened humans representing the cuddly critters.
Imagine returning from a successful hunting trip … only to find out that you’ve been subpoenaed for killing your prize. Who knows, maybe Sunstein would have the family of the dead animal serving as witnesses in court!
By the way, if you’re wondering what he thinks about the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, you won’t be surprised to know that Sunstein is a huge supporter of gun control.
In Radicals in Robes: Why Extreme Right-Wing Courts are Wrong for America (2005), Sunstein says:
Almost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine…. [O]n the Constitution’s text, fundamentalists [that is, gun rights supporters] should not be so confident in their enthusiasm for invalidating gun control legislation.
Hmm, what part of “shall not be infringed” does Sunstein not understand?Imagine the power that Sunstein could have as the Regulatory Czar — the nickname for the person heading the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) in the White House.
As the Regulatory Czar, he could bring about changes in the regulations that affect hunting, gun control and farming. In short, he could make your life hell.
Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) objected to his nomination several weeks ago, preventing him from being unanimously confirmed.
That means that the Senate will now need to garner 60 votes to confirm this radical, kooky choice to the OIRA.
No doubt, many of the people our President wants to associate with are radical kooks. First, there was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright … then there was the self-avowed communist (Van Jones) who was nominated for the Green Jobs Czar … now, there’s an extreme animal rights activist who wants to take away our guns and get Bambi to sue us in court.
It’s time to take a STRONG STAND against this radical administration.
ACTION: Please contact your Senators right away and urge them to vote AGAINST the Cass Sunstein nomination. CLICK HERE to send your legislators the pre-written e-mail message below.
—– Pre-written letter —–
Dear Senator:
I urge you to vote AGAINST Cass Sunstein as the head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, as I am very concerned about the impact this “Regulatory Czar” would have upon firearms and hunting.
Sunstein told a Harvard audience in 2007 that “we ought to ban hunting.” If that were all Sunstein believed, he would be dangerous and extreme, but not necessarily kooky. Unfortunately, in Sunstein’s world, animals should have just as many rights as people … and they should be able to sue humans in court!
Moreover, he is a firm supporter of gun control. In Radicals in Robes: Why Extreme Right-Wing Courts are Wrong for America (2005), Sunstein says that, “Almost all gun control legislation is constitutionally fine.”
I wouldn’t be surprised if Sunstein is part of the small minority — 11% of Americans, according to a Zogby/O’Leary poll in August — who opposes licensed concealed carry.
I hope you will understand that Cass Sunstein’s views are WAY OUT OF THE MAINSTREAM of American thought and that you should vote NO on this radical, kooky nomination.
Sincerely,
This promises to be interesting. I’ll be reading tomorrow for sure. Keep up the good work David!
The lie is that “Threepers” don’t involve themselves in the political process.
I’ll put my record up against any blowhard who says this–especially the ones who libel us from the protective cover of anonymity. The only excuse they could possibly have to utter it is they are ignorant. The only other possible explanation is the person making such a statement is a liar.
Tomorrow I’m going to be talking about “the alleged leader of the merry band of Three Percenters” urging his readers to take political action in a very creative and worthwhile endeavor–something his critics, naturally, have been silent on.
