According to Robert Heinlein's Lazarus Long, a human being should be able to do certain things. Just out of curiousity, I'd like to find out which of these things my readers can do. Can you...

Kim Du Toit’s attempt to arrange a marriage for his daughter through his website?
Seriously, I’d like to know.
I’m thinking it didn’t work out, seeing the absurdly complicated and high standards demanded from a potential mate. Even with the large dowry consisting of several guns, etc, I can’t imagine potential suitors would find it worth their while to court her.
Anyone know?
Well, not completely…but I did win first rimfire and first overall at the plate match yesterday morning. I’m so happy about this as this is the first time I have done this well at the plate match!
I shot the match with my EAA Witness .45 ACP and Ruger GP-100 in .357 Magnum as well as my Ruger 22/45.
I got knocked out of the running in the autoloader and revolver divisions, but made it all the way through the rimfire division to win that, and then beat the winners of the other two divisions with my Ruger 22/45. The number of plates changed to match the rules for the division winner I was shooting against. Six plates and the stop plate for the autoloader division for example.

From Michelle Malkin comes another instance of school children being indoctrinated into worshiping the “Dear Leader”, “The Messiah”, “The One“, Barack Hussein Obama.
No human should be venerated this way. It makes me physically ill to watch these poor kids spouting these praises. No man deserves such adoration.
Here are the words, for those who have difficulty picking them up from the background noise. Note the ominous, droning music in the background.
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand [?]
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be clear today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said Red, Yellow, Black or White
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels sure is a stubborn jackass isn’t he?
SEATTLE – Mayor Greg Nickels on Friday proposed a rule to ban guns in more than 500 Parks and Recreations Department facilities across Seattle where children and youth go – places like sports fields, playgrounds and swimming pools.
“These are the places where our children and families gather and it is common sense that community centers, playgrounds and swimming pools are safer without guns,” Nickels said in a statement.
Signs would be posted that say firearms are prohibited as a condition of entry into the facilities.
Nickels’ announcement is his latest attempt to ban firearms from city property. The mayor began efforts after a man shot and injured three people at the 2008 Folklife Festival at Seattle Center.
But an opinion issued late last year by Attorney General Rob McKenna’s office said cities lack the authority to ban guns because local laws would conflict with state regulations.
Alan Gottlieb, vice president of the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation, said by law Nickels can’t ban firearms from parks.
“This is probably his last blast against gun owners on his way out the door,” Gottlieb said of Nickels, who was defeated in the August primary. “I don’t think it’s going to stick.”
Locations covered by the proposed rule include: 26 community centers; four environmental learning centers; 10 pools; 30 wading pools and water play areas; 139 playgrounds and play areas and 213 ballfields.
The city will take public comment on the proposed rule over the next two weeks. People can submit comments by Oct. 4, 2009, at www.seattle.gov/firearmsrule.
Ten days ago I sent my slide off to EAA to have the firing pin upgraded. Supposedly the new firing pin is safer, for some reason. *shrug* Well, it was free except for the postage there. I haven’t had it back to the range yet, but I have every expectation that it will work just as well as it did before (post gunsmith).
Here’s the slide right out of the packaging. Note the protective coating of oil.
Here’s a closeup of the back of the slide showing the rear of the new firing pin.
And here’s the reassembled side arm lying in repose on a beautiful blue t-shirt background.
