I’ve stayed out of this for a while now, mostly because of my family commitments, but at the risk of offending some people there’s something I’d like to say.

I’m just curious, but don’t we all agree the Second Amendment says in part… “the Right of the People to keep and bear arms, Shall Not Be Infringed.”

Making a silly acronym for people you don’t agree with, who believe firmly that the amendment means what it says, is stupid. Just like adding a “y” to the end of someones name. It’s childish and immature. In addition, does this mean you believe the Second Amendment can be infringed upon? Does that make you SBIs?

Both sides have good things they bring to the table, as long as we all act like adults. Teddy Roosevelt once said “Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick.” Will Rogers put it this way, “Diplomacy is the art of saying ‘Nice doggie’ until you can find a rock.” Legislation and working within the system are fine while you can, but keep your big stick or rock ready. Being armed and willing to defend your rights is one of the biggest sticks or rocks you can have.

Look, I’ve got three beautiful young children and I have severe health problems. I have no illusions as to my worthiness for the battlefield. I’d also rather my children didn’t have to go through a civil war. I don’t want a war, but I will do all I can to help out if one starts. Thankfully I believe that time is not yet upon us, when it will be is open to debate. My own belief is that, like obscenity, I’ll know it when I see it. I also believe those who would deprive us of our civil rights deserve to reminded every once in a while that actions have Consequences, not all of them Intended.
