Promo poster for the movie Serenity

I watched Serenity last night again after several months and it still rocks. I love this movie, and heartily recommend it. There’s guns, space travel, lots of action and great characters. Summer Glau… What’s not to love?

Now to check my Netflix que to see how close to the top the TV series is.

Gun of the Week - EAA Witness

March 27, 2008 on 3:45 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments

EAA Witness 10mm Wonder Finish

The EAA Witness is made in Italy by Tanfoglio (as the TZ-75 or Tanfoglio Force), and imported to the USA by European American Armory (EAA) and called the Witness.

Ever since Jeffersonian got his I’ve been suffering from Witness Envy. His is in .45 ACP and it’s one sweet shooting sidearm. The full steel frame and slide give it a weight that absorbs recoil very well and they managed to pack in a double stack magazine that holds 10 rounds, giving it a 10+1 capacity, three more than a standard 1911 magazine. Even with the double stack magazine the grip fits my small hands well. Some guns I’ve tried have been too thick in the grip area, making it hard to hold onto. Make no mistake, the grip on the EAA Witness fills out my hand, but it’s just short of being too big.

Another advantage of the EAA Witness is it’s ability to change calibers easily with a new magazine and slide assembly. The frame of the gun remains the same. It can be changed to 9 mm Luger, .38 Super Auto, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .22 LR and 10 mm Auto quickly.

One thing different you’ll notice about the EAA Witness is the slide which rides inside the frame (inherited from it’s CZ-75 roots) instead of outside like a 1911. I can personally attest to the accuracy and flawless function of the one I shot, so the design operates very well. I’ve been told that Colonel Cooper proclaimed the CZ-75 (the EAA Witness’s ancestor) to be the best double-action semi-automatic handgun in the world. I can see why.

Hmmm… Gotta get me one of those!

3 out of 4 Americans Believe in Right to Own Firearms

March 27, 2008 on 10:13 am | In civil rights, gun control, second amendment | No Comments

You hear that Rebecca? In an earlier post Sebastian Sassi handily beat her in a debate on Al Jazeera’s English channel. In this debate she asserted that the majority of Americans supported more gun control and that we were in the minority. This Gallup poll suggests otherwise.

Public Believes Americans Have Right to Own Guns

Nearly three in four say Second Amendment guarantees this right

by Jeffrey M. JonesPRINCETON, NJ — A solid majority of the U.S. public, 73%, believes the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the rights of Americans to own guns. Twenty percent believe the amendment only guarantees the rights of state militia members to own guns.

TV installer shoots wife dead

March 27, 2008 on 7:27 am | In idiots, safety | No Comments

Too bad “dirt stupid” isn’t a crime…

“Officials are pondering whether to charge a Missouri DIY satellite TV installer who decided that the best way to punch a hole through the wall was with a .22 calibre handgun, and in so doing accidentally shot and killed his wife.”

(Via The Register.)

Okay folks, just in case you’re not sure what the rules are, here it is again. Always use the right tool for the right job:

  • Drill = for making holes in walls.
  • Gun = for making holes in bad guys.

More than just a pretty face?

March 26, 2008 on 11:38 am | In Uncategorized | 3 Comments

Apparently, Angelina Jolie has been doing some upsetting things lately. Upsetting to liberal Hollyweirder’s that is.

She’s been supporting the troops big time and even getting the kids into it. Not only that, but she’s bought her son Maddox a gun charm necklace and toy guns to play with, in addition to a military themed birthday party.

Oh the horror!

Angelina Jolie and son Maddox support the troops.Angelina Jolie's son Maddox sports a gold gun charm necklace.

Angelina Jolie shocked a whole plethora of her liberal Hollywood friends earlier this month when she took to the editorial pages of the Washington Post and made it clear that she supports the US Troops in Iraq and also supports their mission. Now she is teaching her oldest son Maddox to do the same.

According to a report from OK! Magazine Maddox is making his parents proud by making packages that will be shipped to U.S. troops overseas. “He gets the other kids involved like an assembly line,” and Angelina insider tells OK! “Zahara loves to glitter and sticker the cards!” The friend says Maddox came up with the idea all on his own. “He’s growing up to dream big and thinks even the tiniest thing can make a big difference.”

…and…

Maddox has fired off a fashion statement.

The 6-year-old son of Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt sported a gold gun charm necklace during a New Orleans bike ride with his family on December 18, Pitt’s 44th birthday.

The boy has always had guns on the brain. During an October 28 spree at KB Toys in Sherman Oaks, California, mom bought him a Warrior Playset and a $34.99 Nerf Dart Rapid Fire gun. His parents also threw him a military-themed birthday party when he turned 6 in August.

Maybe there’s hope for Hollywood yet…

Clayton Cramer Running for Idaho State Senate

March 26, 2008 on 9:31 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I just got notice that Clayton Cramer is running for the Idaho State Senate (district 22).

If you are unfamiliar with him, he is a strong advocate for gun owners rights since 1982. He has written numerous books and articles on the subject of weapons and gun rights issues, as well as providing research for one of the numerous amicus briefs submitted to the Supreme Court for the recent D.C. vs Heller case.

I urge all residents in Idaho’s district 22 to vote for him this coming election. We need all the friends we can get in government folks.

Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

March 25, 2008 on 1:33 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I found this interesting and I hope you do too. -Yuri

This letter was written by Charles Grennel and his comrades, veterans of the Global War on Terror. Excerpts taken from Lt. Col. David Grossman’s book, On Combat.

Grennel is an Army Reservist who spent two years in Iraq and was a principal in putting together the first Iraq elections in January 2005.

It was written to Jill Edwards, student at the University of Washington, who did not want to honor, Medal of Honor winner, USMC Colonel Greg Boyington. Ms. Edwards and other
students and faculty do not think those who serve in the U.S. Armed Services are good role models.

To: Jill Edwards, Student, University of Washington

Subject: Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs

Miss Edwards, I read of your student activity regarding the proposed memorial to Colonel Greg Boyington, USMC and a Medal of Honor winner. I suspect you will receive many angry emails from conservative people like me. You may be too young to appreciate fully the sacrifices of generations of
servicemen and servicewomen, on whose shoulders you and your fellow students stand.

I forgive you for the untutored ways of youth and your naivete. It may be that you are simply a sheep. There’s no dishonor in being a sheep, as long as you know and accept what you are.

Most of the people in our society are sheep.

They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident. We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people, not capable of hurting each other except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.

Then there are the wolves who feed on the sheep without mercy.

Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds.

The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

Then there are sheepdogs and I’m a sheepdog.

Why would anyone need a sidearm?

March 25, 2008 on 12:52 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I believe this was taken during the riots that followed the Rodney King verdict. First we see massive looting going on. The looters interviewed don’t seem to care about the verdict, they just want some free stuff.

Then the Korean shop keepers show up and draw their sidearms in an attempt to defend their livelihood. Just as the clip ends we hear the increase in shooting following a carload of young black men who opened fire as soon as they pulled up.

Nowhere in the video are the cops anywhere present. It was everyone for him/herself. There’s an important lesson to be learned from this, but I bet the anti-rights people still won’t get it.
